5th Annual Brooke Schroeder Memorial 5K Run/Walk August 3rd 2024…Go For It! 

My first 5K with Wynn was last August and we took part in this memorial run in Max, ND for an awesome young lady who was lost to us all too soon. This is a great group of people celebrating her life and positive influence for good in health, sports, relationships, and life. The funds from this event are given back to high school students from Max through the Brooke Nicole Schroeder Scholarship Fund. A really fun way to get some walking or running in with your family or treat it like a true race and get right after it. The route is through and around the town of Max. Book I’m Reading…

Pickleball Mindset: The Blueprint for Peak Performance by Dayne Gingrich and Jill Martin. I got the book as it was recommended by a pickleball pro, and now as I’ve gotten into it I have found that it applies to lots of areas of life and the importance of having a solid mental approach/plan to everything. Mistakes and errors in judgment happen on and off the court in life and the next step is the most crucial making sure we don’t go mentally sliding down a poor path and making things worse for ourselves. A commitment to doing the work of improving ourselves, an acceptance of the fact that things don’t always go the way we want them to, and a fast ability to return to the present moment and focus on the “right now” are awesome tips for all of us.

This is not a mistake…I’m tapping on this again. Congrats to Michelle who celebrated her 1 year anniversary with CornerStone this last week! Movie with My Daughter…

Wynn, my 12 yr old daughter, and I had a few days together this last weekend and watched a fantastic movie. Freedom Writers from 2007. A great family movie closely based on a true story. A dedicated teacher who inspires and unites a class room of at-risk teenagers in a racially divided Los Angeles school. She changes their lives through her care and efforts and the lives of many others and counting. 

My Hour of Power…Part 1 of 7

I begin my mornings with what I call my Hour of Power. I set aside one hour prior to leaving for my day of adjusting or whatever is on the schedule to set myself up to be the best version I can be for the everyone I come in contact with that day. This is part one of seven things I do during this hour. I will share all seven with you over the next few editions. I encourage you to explore and build your own hour of power as it will change your life for the better, guaranteed.  

The first thing I do after I’m dressed, ready, and have a cup of coffee by my side is read my Bible and pray. I spend about 10-15 mins here. I start with reading and thinking about what I’ve read. The first thing in the morning is the best time for me to do this as my mind hasn’t been cluttered by all the things that while they are good, they are just not as important to start my day with. When I’m through reading I pray. These are the first two things I do in my hour of power and it sets me up with the right mindset, spirit, and attitude for whatever comes next.
